Love Never Fails Page 12
“Jake it’s Clint’s baby.”
“I guess that’s the reason why you were crying at school that day.”
“Yeah. When I told him, he broke up with me.”
“I’m so sorry. He’s such an ass.”
“Don’t apologize for him. You didn’t do this. He did.”
“What are you going to do?”
“Do you mean if I’m going to get rid of it?”
“No that’s not what I’m asking? I know you’re going to keep the baby. I meant what are you going to do with Clint?”
“He wanted me to get an abortion. But I couldn’t do it. Even if it means I have to make other plans in my life.”
“Does he know you’re going to keep it?”
“No. He said if I don’t get rid of it, then he will.”
“I pray for his life, he doesn’t touch you. I swear to god I will kill him if he lays a finger on.”
“I don’t want him ever knowing. I want it to stay that way. My baby and I don’t need him. We’ll be ok without him. Plus it’ll be best if he isn’t around.”
He pulls her face to his so she can see his true feelings. “You know I’ll be here for you right?”
Monica’s lip quivers. “You don’t have to.”
He softly pecks her lips. “But Monica I want to.”
She believes him. “Thank you.”
“No I mean it Monica. I will be by your side. I want to be part of your life, even if the child isn’t mine. I care for you too much to let you be. I want you and your baby.”
For the first time, Monica pounces on Jake. He rips her top off, and sucks on her perky breast. He lifts her up in the air with her legs wrapped around his waist; she gazes into his loving eyes, and he gently lays her on her bed. He maneuvers her chin to the side, and starts lightly biting her neck with soft kisses, slowly but carefully taking her pajama shorts off. Her attentive moans, makes him want to please her in every way possible. He sticks his wet tongue inside her navel, and inserts a finger in her area. The slick moisture inside her makes him want to taste her. He follows the mother trail that women get when they’re pregnant from her navel to her vagina. First he kisses it like he French kisses her lips, making sure his tongue massages her inside out. More of her juices flow, and he licks it making sure he doesn’t miss a drop. Once he knows he’s pleased her with his playful tongue, he follows the trail back to her navel. He gently bites her stomach, and her body aches with pleasure. She arches her back like a cat, and pulls him up, kisses him, and after he slips a condom on, he enters inside her. He takes his time, making slow, but powerful strokes, pulling back till the tip is barely touching her area, then pushes back inside, deep inside. He gloats into her eyes with the satisfaction she disposes, and he whispers the most beautiful words Monica can ever experience.
“Monica I love you.”
Tears roll. “I love you too Jake.” Monica gossips in a hushed tone.
With them exchanging their love; they both come at the same time. He stays lying on top of her, but uses his elbows to prop himself up from her belly.
“That was incredible.” He studies her expression.
“That was beyond incredible.”
She rubs his cheek with the back of her fingers, and he desires more. With that little touch from her, he starts kissing her lips, and they go at it again.

Jake kept his promise to Monica, and stayed with her. He helped her with the morning sickness; he bought tons of baby items, and even went with her to her doctor appointments. Every day after school, he brings her roses. His parents doesn’t approve of what he is doing. They don’t understand why he stays with her knowing she’s pregnant with another man’s baby. They tell him she’s only using him for his money. His parents are very well off, and they’ve given Jake a monthly allowance because they’re guilty for neglecting him when he was younger. When Jake turned eighteen, he invested the money he saved and now he’s pretty well off. He is willing to take care of Monica and her baby. But if he only knew, Monica has more money than him. Jake loves Monica, and no one and nothing can change that. Not even his parents. Jake wanted to get a place with Monica, but since this is her first pregnancy, she wanted to be near her mother so she has someone to help her. Whatever Monica wanted, he did, so they moved into her parents’ guest house. Jake can support them with his investments but still plans to work for Jo-Wills someday. John sees the effort Jake is putting to make sure Monica is happy, so he offers Jake what he’s been wishing for.
“Son have you figured out what you want to do after you graduate from high school?”
“I want to find a job so I can support Monica and the baby. I have money put up into stocks and bonds but I know I still need another source of income.”
“Well do you want to go to college?”
“Sir I can’t do that right now. I need to work.”
“Well son I have a job for you after you graduate if you want it, it’s yours?”
“Sir I’ll take anything I can get.”
“Have you heard of Jo-Wills?”
“Yes sir I have. That’s the best company to work for.”
“Do you want to work at Jo-Wills?”
“Yes sir I do. But I heard they are very strict on hiring people with no experience. Do you know anybody that can get me in without experience?”
John chuckles. “Yes son I do.”
“Really?” Jake’s voice squeaks with happiness. “Who? Is he a friend of yours? Do you think he can really get me in even if I don’t have experience?”
“Yes I know he can get you in.”
“That’s cool sir.” Jake tucks his hand into his jean pocket. “What’s his name?”
“John.”
Jake stares blankly at John wondering if he’s kidding.
“Yes son I’m going to get you a job at Jo-Wills.”
“Oh my god. Do you work there to?”
“You can say that?”
“That’s really cool sir. What do you do? What’s your position there?”
John slips his hands into his pockets and sway back and forth. “Son I’m the owner.”
He’s stunned. Words can’t come out of his mouth. All this time Monica’s dad owned Jo-Wills. Why didn’t Monica say anything to him when he told her he wanted to work for the company? John tells Jake he will need to start like any other of his employees, from the bottom, and then work his way up. John isn’t going to give him the position he wants just because he’s dating his daughter.
Josh and Kelly come over to visit them. Kelly rubs Monica’s belly even though she isn’t showing yet?
“I’m so excited for you. I can’t wait to see the baby.”
Monica looks down at her stomach with a loving smile. “I can’t wait either.”
Josh thinks just like Jake’s parents and doesn’t understand why he’s is staying around. When the girls sit in one corner of the guest house, Josh pulls Jake to the side.
“Bro, you do know that’s Clint’s baby right?”
“Yeah I know.”
“So why are you with her?”
“Because I want to be with her, even if that means I have to be with a baby that isn’t mine. I want Monica, and the baby is part of that package.”
“Dude, you’re going to regret this. I promise you. Do you know how many girls want you bro? I hear girls all the time saying how much they wish you were their boyfriend. Bro don’t settle down. You’re still young. You need to enjoy all the pussy that girls are throwing at you. You’re missing out. You’re going to hate yourself in the future. Then you’re going to hate Monica too. You’re going to blame her for this. There isn’t a girl here worth all that trouble.”
Josh can’t change Jake’s mind about Monica and the baby. This is his decision, and no one is going to change that for him. He lets Josh vent because he can tell something is wrong between Kelly and him.
“Oh my god Monica. You’re so lucky you have a good guy by your side. You don’t have a
n asshole boyfriend like I do.”
Monica hisses. “What? What’s going on between you and Josh?”
“We just fight a lot. I think he’s seeing someone else.”
“Aren’t you seeing someone else?” Monica knows her best friend to well. Kelly isn’t the long term type. She gets bored with the same guy. She hasn’t dated a guy for more than a whole year.
“Yes. As a matter of fact I am seeing someone else. His name is Lance and he goes to Lee High.”
“Lance? Like Lance Cook?”
“Yes like Lance Cook. You know him?”
“You know he tried kissing me one time at a party right?”
“Hold up. What happened?”
“We were both drunk, and he kept trying to hit on me, but I wasn’t interested because I was dating Greg then, and he tried forcing himself on to me, so I pushed him off and slapped him. He tried throwing a punch and it hit the wall next to my face.”
“Oh my god. I don’t remember you telling me that.”
“Yes I told you. And Greg was going to beat him up the next day because I had told him what he did and how much an asshole Lance was.”
Jake and Josh walks in, and Monica and Kelly stops talking.
“Who are Greg and Lance?” Jake asks Monica wanting her answers right away.
“Just some guys we use to know in the past.”
“So why is their names coming up now, if it was in the past?”
“Jake quit. I’ll tell you the story later.” Monica tries to calm him down, because she can tell he’s starting to get mad.
Josh and Kelly leaves letting Jake and Monica talk it out.
“Ok so who are Greg and Lance?”
“Well Kelly’s talking to another guy, and his name is Lance Cook. I didn’t know who she was talking about at first, because she never told me his name, until now. So I told her what he did.”
“What did he do to you?”
“Jake it’s the past.”
“Dammit Monica. Tell me what he did to you.”
“We were at a party once, and everybody was drunk. Greg and I got into an argument because he saw some guy talking to me, Lance forced himself on to me, and so I slapped him. He tried punching me, but it landed on the wall.”
“Greg? Would this be the same Greg in our Physics class?”
“Yes.”
“And this fucker didn’t beat the shit out of Lance for trying to punch you?”
“He wanted to, but I begged him not to.”
“I don’t give a fuck if you begged me not to kick his ass. If you were my girlfriend, and some motherfucker did that shit to you, they would be in the hospital once I was done with them. Hold up. Why didn’t you tell me that was your ex?”
“You never asked me who I used to date. So I never told you.”
“Damn did you date the pizza guy too?”
Monica giggles. “What the hell?”
“Shit he keeps staring at you every time we order pizza.”
“Ah, there are a lot of girls that stare at you when we go out and eat. Did you date them?”
“I can’t believe Greg didn’t do anything to Lance.”
“Oh. So you’re going to change the subject.” Monica shakes her head laughing.
“Lance is a fucking pussy. And Kelly is stupid if she continues to date him, knowing what he did to you. You know I’m going to kick Lance’s ass whenever I see him?”
“Why?”
“Because he tried hurting you.”
“It’s in the past. Forget about it. What you’re going to kick every guy’s ass that hurts me?”
“Yes.”
“So are you going to kick Clint’s ass too?”
“Did he hurt you?”
Monica stops and thinks about that question. Did Clint hurt her? He’s never put his hands of her. But he did hurt her emotionally. Does that even count? And does it even matter to dwell on? Yeah he’s the father of her child. But he doesn’t want to be here and play that role, and Jake is here volunteering to do it for him. So should she be hurt from what Clint did or should she be thankful? Thankful that because of what happened, the man she really loves is sticking around.
“You know what I’ve thought about a lot. And at first I was frustrated and hated him for leaving me for getting pregnant with his child. But now I’m glad he did. He gave me my baby, and now you’re here. You’re doing his job, and that means a lot to me.”
“Monica I promise you I will always be here for you. I want to work and support you and the baby. I will never hurt you.”
“Oh yeah my dad told me he offered you a job.”
“Yeah about that. Why didn’t you tell me you guys own Jo-Wills?”
“Because, I didn’t want to be the reason why you like me. Do you know how many guys tried dating me just because they want a job there after they graduate. Some guys even ask if we can hire their dads. I want someone who likes me for me, not because my dad owns a well-established business.”
“I understand what you mean. Some girls talk to me because they know my parents have lots of money. Not as much money as your parents, but they’re well off. You know what’s so funny?”
“What?”
“My parents, well my mom said you’re just using me for my money. Man if she only knew that you don’t need my money. You have your own.”
“During the summer time, I worked with my dad so I saved that money. And if I got good grades, they gave me money for that also. My parents taught me to save up for a rainy day. And I think I’ll be ready if it ever pours.”
“They didn’t give you money just because?”
“Nope. I had to earn it.”
“So do your parents know half the stuff you did?”
“What are you talking about? I’m an innocent girl.”
“Yeah. I bet you are.” Jake lies on top of Monica.
“Shut up. They think I’m innocent, so we’ll leave it at that.”
Jake stops debating whether he should ask. “So are you going to give the baby Clint’s last name?”
“Hell no. It will be my last name.”
“Can I ask you a question without you getting offended?”
“Yeah I guess?”
“Is there any chance it’s my baby?”
“No.”
“Are you sure? You do remember that night? We were both drunk.”
“I know. But it’s not yours Jake. I wish it was. But I had my period weeks after we broke up.”

“Hello. Anybody home?”
“Hello dear. It’s been awhile. What, is Monica trying to keep you from us?”
“Mom please don’t start.”
“Well dear you barely come by anymore. I guess you’re too busy taking care of a woman who’s pregnant with another man’s baby. “
“Mom if you don’t want to drive me away, stop talking so negative. Especially about Monica. I love her and her baby.”
“Love? I don’t think you even know what love is dear?”
“Yes I do.”
“Oh no dear you are too young to know. That’s lust.”
“Ok mom, whatever you say.”
“Dear it’s the truth. You think you love her, but you’re just lusting for her.”
“Mom I know the difference, and I do love her. I can’t live without her. I felt like shit when she broke up with me. At first I thought it was her lost for dumping me, but I came to realize I was the one losing out. She is way better than any girls I’ve been with. And you don’t even know her. If you give her a chance, you too will see how great she is.”
“But dear she’s only around because she’s using you for your money. Girls like that try to snag on the first rich guy they see. They need someone rich to take care of them and their bastard baby.”
Jake gets frustrated at what his mom says, but laughs in her face, “Mom do you know who she is? Do you know who her dad is?”
“No dear obviously I don’t know who she is.”
“Her dad owns Jo-Wills. The company that dad designed a software program for. They have more money that you and dad will ever have. And he gave me a job right after I graduate from high school. Do you know how hard it is getting a job for that company? You either have to have a spectacular resume or know someone who has anarchy in the company. Mom she doesn’t need my money. She has her own. Her parents have more money if everyone in Baytown combined their money. She isn’t using me. She loves me for me. And I love her for her. And I love her baby. And I’m going to ask her to be my wife with or without your approval. And if you want me to continue coming around, I’m asking you. No I’m begging you to stop talking shit about her and the baby. Because if you don’t stop, you will never see me again.”
Erin has never heard her son talk like that to her. “Dear I’m so sorry. I never knew you had deep feelings for her. I just figured she’s like all the other girls you’ve talked to. The skanks who use you for your money.”
Jake opens the fridge and pulls an apple. “Mom I already told you she isn’t like all the other girls. She’s different.”
“I’m so sorry dear.”
“Sometimes you have to have faith in me. I know I haven’t shown you and dad that I can be responsible. But I’ve grown up. And that’s because of her. She changed me to be a better man. And I want you and dad to meet her. I’m going to ask her to marry me.”
“Marry her? Are you sure you’re ready for that. Dear marriage is over-rated. It’s not for everyone. Believe me. I know from experience.”
“I wanted to tell you guys first, and once her dad approves, then I’m going to ask her.”
“Do you even think her dad will say?”
“Mom what’s not to like?” Jake jokes with his mom.
“Dear.”
“I’m just kidding mom. Yes I think he does like me, so yeah he’ll say yes. I don’t think he would have offered me a job if he didn’t like me right?”
Erin shrugs her shoulders. Jake questions himself. Will John accept if he asks for his daughter’s hand? Aaron comes home and sits on the stool by his wife.
